How Come The Hat & Bag Don’t Match?
By Sweeper | December 14, 2007
Have you ever wondered why some pros advertise a particular brand of clubs on their hat, but have clubs from one or two other manufactures in their bag?
Every-time I watch a golf show or read an article about what the pros have in their bag, there's hardly any, that carry a complete set of clubs from one manufacture. Yes of course there are exceptions but the vast majority from what I've seen do not.
For example, Steve Flesch's bag was made up of the following clubs for the 2007 Turning Stone Resort Championship:
- Driver: Cleveland
- 3 Wood: Callaway
- 5 Wood: TaylorMade
- Hybrid: Nickent
- Irons & Wedges: Cleveland
I know amateurs carry whatever they can afford and whatever they feel comfortable playing with. But I would think that as an equipment manufacture, I would want someone that I am paying, to play my brand and only my brand.
I'm not a pro and I certainly am not getting paid, but with the exception of my putter and ball, I am a Hogan man 100%. Below is what I carry in my bag:
-
Hogan BH-5 Irons
-
Hogan C-S3 Driver
-
Hogan CFT Hybrids
-
Hogan Wedges
-
Hogan Cart Bag
How about you, does your hat match what's in your bag? I would love to here what others are carrying in their bag.
And I would also like to know what's your opinion, do you think pros should carry a complete set of clubs from one manufacture?
